RALEIGH, N.C.—Womble Carlyle’s new downtown Raleigh office gives the firm a continued presence for decades to come in one of the nation’s most dynamic, fastest-growing markets.
The super-regional powerhouse corporate law firm is the anchor tenant of Charter Square, a new 11-story Class A building located at 555 Fayetteville Street. Charter Square is immediately adjacent to centers of activity, such as the Duke Energy Performing Arts Center, the Raleigh Convention Center and City Plaza. The new office opens Dec. 21st.
“This move assures Womble Carlyle will remain a key player—and a great neighbor—in downtown,” said Raleigh Office Managing Partner Johnny Loper. “Raleigh is a booming, diverse city and we are right in the heart of the area’s—and particularly downtown Raleigh’s—revitalization and growth.’”
Womble Carlyle opened in Raleigh in 1982—the Raleigh office was the firm’s first outside of Winston-Salem—and moved into its current location more than 20 years ago. The practice of law has changed dramatically since then. Fewer secretaries supporting more lawyers means less administrative space is needed, and digital file storage means firms no longer need vast storage space for physical documents. Multipurpose spaces and increased videoconference capabilities enhance the firm’s ability to connect with clients. In addition, Charter Square is designed to be Platinum LEED certified for energy efficiency. Glass and light will permeate the new office.
“All of these features promote teamwork and collaboration,” said Womble Carlyle attorney Jay Silver, who helped lead the firm’s planning for the new office. “Our new space reflects our commitment to client service: efficient, nimble and cutting edge.”
