Haynes’ team qualified for the national tournament by placing third in the Southern Regional Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition in Atlanta. The Wake Forest team competed against 12 other law school teams, facing University of Florida, Nova Southeastern University and Florida State University in the final rounds.
The advancing team is made up of Wake Law students Doriyon Glass (JD ’18), Briana O’Neil (JD ’18), Tracea Rice (JD ’19) and Brittney Willis (JD ’19). Haynes also coached a second Wake Forest team consisting of Correll Kennedy (JD ’17), Steven Williams (JD ’18), Darius Lamonte (JD ’19) and Jasmine Burgess (JD ’19).
Haynes said, “The team was successful because they acted as a team who supported each other and worked together tirelessly to hone their trial skills in practice.”
