Womble Carlyle attorneys regularly represent businesses and sovereign nations in international commercial arbitrations and investor-state dispute arbitrations. Our team has experience before the leading international arbitration institutions, including ICC, ICSID, LCIA, PCA, SIAC, ICDR, AAA, SCIA, and others. Our lawyers combine the substantive knowledge of specific arbitration law and practice across the globe with the advocacy skills Womble Carlyle is known for. We offer a full range of services geared to both preventing and resolving disputes with practical advice on public international law issues, drafting arbitration clauses, mediation, as well as the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards. In each case, we exhibit a flexible, cost-effective approach to international problems that maximize the opportunity for our clients to achieve an advantageous result.
From London to Geneva to Hong Kong and Singapore, our lawyers have built real relationships with highly skilled lawyers across the world that can help navigate local issues, both legal and practical. Our firm is particularly proud of our alliance with Bond Dickinson, a leading U.K law firm. Through these connections our clients are provided with an even greater depth of knowledge on critical issues that include the selection of arbitrators, experts, and local enforcement of awards.
Leadership In The Field
In addition to our rich client experience, members of our team regularly speak and write on international arbitration issues. Our team leader, Mr. Kurt E. Lindquist II and his associate, John D. Branson, have lectured on international arbitration at the Wake Forest University School of Law, participated as arbitrators in the Willem C. VIS Moot in Hong Kong, Mr. Lindquist presented to the Atlanta Arbitration Society (AtlAS) and Mr. Branson was an author and speaker at the 10th Annual Investment Treaty Arbitration Conference in Washington, D.C. in May 2016. In May 2016, Mr. Lindquist was interviewed by 360 Law Magazine on International Arbitration.
