She leads the firm’s Trial Consulting practice, helping clients with jury selection, theme development and other aspects of trial preparation.
*Dr. Donaldson is not licensed to practice law. All trial consulting work is done at the request and guidance of an attorney.
In the courtroom, there is no substitute for proper preparation. Even the best attorneys and strongest cases may not be enough if counsel does not properly survey the lay of the legal landscape in advance. Dr. Sandra Donaldson helps ensure that clients enter the courtroom with the best possible chance for success. She has 28 years of experience counseling clients at all stages of litigation, from pre-discovery to post-trial case assessment.
Sandy enjoys a rather unique position in the trial consulting industry. Holding a degree in Social Psychology, Sandy created Womble Carlyle’s in-house Trial Consulting services in the late 80’s. A combination of the need for supplying full litigation support services and the demand from clients outside the firm, led a group of medical specialists and Sandy’s trial consulting group to grow these services into FirmLogic – a service of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice. Today, FirmLogic is a nationally recognized service company for law firms and corporate clients all over the nation.
Sandy works with clients on refining case strategies, guiding discovery decisions with the ultimate decision-maker in mind, building a compelling case narrative, enhancing the effectiveness and credibility of witness testimony, venue analysis, jury selection and post-trial assessment. By working with attorneys early in the litigation cycle, Sandy helps them contain costs and achieve better outcomes. She also assists clients in preparation for arbitration and mediations.
With Sandy’s assistance, clients can get a strong sense of whether they feel comfortable going to trial or if a settlement may be in their best interests. This type of service can save clients millions of dollars in damages and legal fees.
