Mike is a Partner in Womble Carlyle’s Intellectual Property Practice Group and has over 18 years of experience representing clients in complex technology and intellectual property transactions, including technology development and acquisition arrangements; patent and trademark license agreements; intellectual property M&A and financing transactions; and internet legal disputes. Mike is a registered patent attorney with significant IP litigation experience, which allows Mike to bring a broad intellectual property perspective to his client’s complicated technology and IP challenges.
Mike also has extensive experience drafting and negotiating a wide variety of IT agreements, including software license and implementation agreements and SaaS subscription agreements. He regularly represents clients in the acquisition and implementation of mission-critical software solutions, including a nuclear power plant digital control system, multi-facility and cloud-based electronic health record (EHR) software systems, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software systems.
Mike provides patent, trademark and copyright counsel, in both the acquisition and the enforcement of IP rights. He represents clients involved in intellectual property disputes, such as domain name disputes and intellectual property infringement matters. Mike has twice served as an expert witness in software contract disputes.
